Piergulam of the Netherlands Branch Passes Away

-- Mr. A.S. Abdul Santoe reports: It is with great sorrow we announce herewith the sad demise of Haji Rahmatoellah Piergulam on Saturday evening, the 17th of March, 2001. Haji Piergulam dedicated a large part of his 25 years life in Rotterdam, Netherlands, as Imaam of the Ahmadiyya jamaat in this city. Due to health reasons he was retired in this responsibility in recent years but he was widely honoured and regognised as a Buzurgi Imaam in this country. In 1980 he accompanied a considerable group of Holland Ahmadies to participate in the Salana [Annual] Jalsa in Lahore, Pakistan, where he made aquaintance with several members of our Movement worldwide. Born on 11th January 1932 in Suriname, he was in Government service there and migrated in 1975 with his family to Holland where he settled in Rotterdam city. Despite poor health situation he courageously undertook the very demanding plight of Hajj in February recently (He had already performed the Umrah hajj a few years back). Before the Hajj rituals started, he felt seriously ill and was hospitalised in Mecca Sharief, after which he was treated in intensive care at the Academic Hospital in Rotterdam, where he was taken up peacefully by the ALMIGHTY ALLAH SWT. Haji Piergulam is surpassed by his widow Mrs. Piergulam- Nurmohamed, ten children and a number of grand children. JANAZA will be performed on Wednesday 22nd March at the Southern Burial Place in Rotterdam. May the ALMIGHTY ALLAH SWT shower His choicest blessings upon Hajji Piergulam and grant him eternal peace in HIS heavenly Abode and the bereft family Sabar [patience] to bear this loss. Ameen.
